Options
With Tools > Distraction-free writing plugin Options you can open the options dialog box.
Apply changes
When switching between sections, or when leaving the distraction free writing mode, changes of the section content will be applied to the novelibre project.
If the Ask for confirmation checkbox is checked, you will be asked for confirmation.
Note
Applying changes does not save your current project on disk, but
update it in memory, and set the change notification in the
novelibre footer bar. To save changes while in distraction-free
writing mode, press Ctrl-S.
Word count
By default, word count is updated manually by pressing the F5 key.
If the Live update checkbox is checked, the word count can be updated “live”, i.e. just while entering text.
Note
Live updating the word count is resource intensive and may slow down the program when editing big sections. This is why it’s disabled by default.
Characters per line
The editor text area is 80 characters wide. You can adjust the right margin by specifying a line length of less than 80 characters. Only integer values are accepted, and the input will be automatically limited to a value between 20 and 80 characters per line.
Note
The characters per line limit applies to fonts with a fixed character width. If you use a font with a variable character width, the actual line length limit may differ from the set value.
Username
Here you can enter the name that will be assigned to new comments you create in distraction-free writing mode. If you leave this entry blank, the novel author’s name will be used for new comments.
Note
Comments created with Writer are always attributed to the name listed in the OpenOffice/LibreOffice user properties. That’s why you’ll want to enter that name as your username here as well.
Color sets
You can select a color set (theme) by clicking on the button below the preview.
